I have a 20 year old Pool Pilot Digital. In the beginning, I loved it. I would get like 4-5 years per cell. I keep getting bigger cells and they keep failing faster. It has become a huge source of anxiety and stress in my life to the point where I was about to abandon the SWC altogether. Saltpoolguys, who I believe has given me sound advice in the past, recommends that I buy a new $1000 controller. This seems like a reasonable option. The pool is already plumbed for this, and I have a cell with millage still on it. It is not unreasonable to believe that the controller is the problem. But before I drop that kind of cash, I was looking at other systems. Some are cheaper and have significantly longer warranties. Does anyone have any reason to believe that I should skip the easy option and go with another brand?
I have a 30k gal IG pool in southern Oregon. If I go with Pool Pilot, I am comfortable installing the new controller myself. If I get a different brand, I'd have to pay a plumber and electrician to install (did I just answer my own question?). Also, I hope to sell the house within 4 years (another answer to my question?).
Thanks,
Steve
