So not to burst your bubble, and you should adjust your volume just for future dosing, but it won’t help you like you hope. The manufacturers ‘size’ the pool full to the brim and yours is 5-6 inches lower than that. Your actual will be 500(?) less than the gallons they state.

*But. You have been over treating all this time by a little, not under treating. So making less volume in pool math will give you less chemicals added to the pool, not more. If you were adding for less gallons, but really had more gallons then adjusting the volume would get you more chemicals added.

You still want it dialed in as close as possible.

Yours may be closer to 48". I lost one inch of depth due to the skimmer box being in there, and another 1.5" probably from not putting the legs on pavers, which I'm lucky I have really hard packed soil, since my legs didn't sink so far in 16 months with a TON of rainfall. If you do decide to measure the depth, DRY the tape measure BEFORE pressing the button to retract the tape, LOL.
I will do that!

Got it!

Sand pump
does your system hook up like this? If so will one of these adapter work for attaching the hose. It's how I hook up in my pool.

Thank you! That is the pice you remove from the inside of the pool correct? I believe I watch a video earlier on it
Yes, if you have a protective basket like cover threaded on you take it off then put that adapter on and attach the hose may need an adapter as the hose may be a different size. I cut the bump on the end of the hose and slip inside the adapter. Your situation may be different than mine.

I use this Skimmer and the adapter is always in place. I plug the second intake so the skimmer gets 99.9% of the suction.

You look like you are in good hands while I was traveling today.
This place never ceases to amaze me. Real folks with real world legit hacks for whatever problems OP has. Because others had them too and hacked them. And a slew of others trying to help too.

No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old.

Thank you. I will order one. I’m going to hold off on skimmer basket for now and deal with that next summer.

It is wonderful being able to ask questions and get answers quickly! I do have one more, for now lol...so we have the sand pump connected from here on out. When vacuuming, what setting should this be on? I was thinking waste and hubby said no.
We don’t have a special sand pump, just one we purchased from menards.

That’s. Why. We’re. Here. Lol.

Waste is great to get the stuff out. But you lose water in the process. If you don’t mind refilling 2 inches (?) then go to waste. If it drains to much to be feasible then backwash it out which will use much less water.

I may try waste today. The pool looks exactly the same as yesterday as dust has settled once again...

You can cheat by gently brushing the stuffs to one area. It’s poofy and takes some trial and error but you’ll figure out how to steer the cloud. Give it a while to settle and go back for what you missed. Each round only takes 2 minutes. After a few tries you only have to vac that small area (15% ? Of the pool) and it’s quick enough that you won’t lose a lot of water doing it to waste.

I vacuum while filtering (although I'm not trying to vacuum up dead algae) Here comes the math part (ick) my pump pump 1500 gallons per hour. If I vacuum to waste for 20 minutes 1500 divided by 60 equals 25 gallons a minute times 20 minutes is 500 gallons in the street. If I vacuum while filtering then backwash for 3 minutes that's 75 gallons rinse for 1 minutes that's another 25 gallons for a total of 100 gallons. That's one fifth of the water and cost. Here in Mesa, AZ we are in a extreme drought and they are talking about limiting water to farmers and others. So every gallon I can save is good.

Short story long, I do not vacuum to waste, I vacuum then backwash/rinse to save water.

My hose stays in place with the suction of the pump. I did at one time have to vacuum up dead algae for few days. I still vacuumed while filtering. I know it's time to backwash by watching the return jet with it's diminished return. (kinda like my IRA) Or when the hose pulls from the adapter while vacuuming. I then backwash/rinse and return to vacuuming.

That’s what he is doing. I don’t understand much of the pump and never mess with it.

Getting ready to try now. I normally try to brush towards the filter

I need to backwash the pump, that little clear thing looks like it has gunk in there, kind of yellow. To do this I turn the pump off, remove cap, switch to backwash, turn back on and let run till water is clear??? Also I have the vac hooked up, when I switch back to filter will it affect the suction? Sorry but I can’t call him right now on this
