need help with DE / debris in pool

I'm trying to fix a leak in my DE filter that is allowing debris into the pool.

I'm checking the grids, and there are no obvious holes. Will a problem with a grid be immediately visible?

Also I'm curious about the seal between the grid exit and the manifold. Does the fabric need to be inserted into the manifold, or is it OK if the fabric is pressed down? See picture for what I mean.

Leak in the grid can be hard to find - especially when you are looking over 7 grids. Best way is try to put a hose down the grid so it slightly inflates with the water and try to find it that way. Also, best to rinse the exterior so you are looking at a clean grid.

I don't think the fabric is the issue at the top.
