We are still deciding on the circular or rectangular pool but other than that we are lost on what to buy for start up.

Please help.

I read that we need the TF-100 test kit. I read the TFPC approach. And something about a sand attachment upgrade? And a skimmer trick?

If you would, please help us on what you would recommend on getting started.

Thank you

Or if you can direct me to a thread that already had this convo started....

P.S. We live in TX...does the pool stay up year round? Since it's hottttttt all the darn time? Extra cost...

Pool school would be a good start. I have a rectangular above ground and love it. Chemicals which are listed in pool school would be another first bought items. Regular bleach and baking soda and muriatic acid. A solar cover really helps keep my pool warm. Welcome to tfp. There is allot of smart and willing to help people here.

Prep - Check if you need permits, schedule your builder if not doing yourself and electrician. after digging and leveling, some people put down stone dust depending on the ground and you need the sand for bottom and cove (or artificial cove). You will also need pavers for the uprights.

Pool equipment - you need the pool, floor pad and wall foam (optional), pump, filter (sand, cartridge or DE), you need to decide if your doing bleach/liquid chlorine or salt water (need bags of salt if doing salt water generator and need to buy the generator). Water either filled by hose (can take forever depending on size) or water truck.

Chemicals - You will need the test kit, stabilizer (can get at walmart or amazon cheap) and bleach/liquid chlorine to get you started (even if your doing salt until the salt water generator is running). Once you get initial numbers you can figure out the rest based on your numbers.

That is pretty much all I can think of.
