Need Help Identifying Above Ground Pool Gasket

Hey Everyone!

I need help identifying a gasket that appeared in my skimmer basket while I was vacuuming the pool the other day. I can only assume it's some part of the skimmer gasket because I have no idea where else this gasket could have come from. If anyone has any insight that would be greatly appreciated. I'm also now noticing that I am losing water in my pool as well.

Pretty sure I've seen similar come off a robot before. Do you have one ?

The skimmer gaskets are screwed through, in place so they don't pop out, and they'd have holes to match the screws in the faceplate. Maybe a neighbors kid shot it over the fence like a rubber band. Lol.

Post pics of the skimmer just so we can verify there's no funky seal gasket.

Ya that's a possibility I guess. I'm at a loss...lol.
Okay, I'll post a couple pics of the skimmer tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks!

Manual Vacuum Head missing a "bumper"?
@Getitrite You are a genius! Thank you so much for the suggestion. You were right on the money. That seal fits right onto the vacuum. I didn't even realize it was missing. Mystery solved.

Now I still gotta figure out where my leak is.
Any suggestions on pinpoint a leak in a pool (either the liner or skimmer/return jet)? Lol.

I was just coming in to ask you where you are losing water. If you have no visible signs of a leak, what are you seeing that leads to this concern?

I've been making marks on the skimmer with tape to watch the water level overnight and I am losing about 1/4" everyday. No visible leaks in any of the plumbing. But I've noticed lately the ground on the one side of the pool is wet. I've never noticed my pool to lose much to any water really and now for whatever reason, it's definitely losing water on a daily basis.

Time to get in with some goggles 🥽 on & go on a hunt!
Pay special attention to the cove area (this is easily punctured by a brush or vac head that may have a sharp spot) & any protruding rocks or divots under the floor. Look for areas that seem to have new wrinkles or aren’t tight against the wall.

I try to provide helpful input and "learning from others" on this forum is invaluable to me. Glad you found a solution. ;)

Sorry. I don't know leak detection, yet. 😥 (Maybe in a few more years of TFP? Looks like the staff are on it.)

Easily explainable with late season (in Canada at least :ROFLMAO:) evaporation from cool nights. We're consistently hitting 60s down here and some nights are in the 50s. Unless you're using a solar cover, then maybe not.

Crud. Ok explore further. Keep us posted.

Really!? Losing 1/4" a day is considered normal for this time of year?

I'll keep an eye on my tape that I still have on the skimmer and continue to watch if the level goes down everyday.

And I'll keep an eye on the wet ground. Just hard because we have had so much bloody rain lately.

Do the bucket 🪣 test outlined in the leak article to determine if evaporation is indeed your cause of water loss.

It can be for those of us with still warm pools and no longer warm nights, yes.

Many times the 2 equal out, or close enough that nobody notices the evaporation on a regular basis.
