Need help balancing post HARVEY

After 40 inches of rain I expected levels to be off. CYA was 0, FC less then 1.
I added 3lb cya , adding bleach and keeping my Stenner running at normal levels to keep 6ppm. Problem is when I test CYA it is 0 and FC 1 and pH is over 8. Is it possible something is eating CYA and turning it to ammonia which is causing FC to go to 0? I am going to add 1 gallon bleach and see if it kills anything. Water is crystal clear. Any other ideas ??

Add almost an entire gallon while pump is running, in 10 minutes measure FC. If it is less than 5, add half a gallon, wait 10 minutes and test FC. Repeat until FC holds above 5. Then add CYA and SLAM "normally".

Don't worry about CH for now.

I'd let the FC drop just a little to verify pH, adjust then add CYA and SLAM away. If the water is clear it might be super quick.

Lost all the Cl I added earlier. It is a sunny day here so with no cya that is probably the reason. I wonder if the old cya I was using was bad???? It did get hot in the bucket as I was mixing it
I guess next plan is add cya and Cl since pool is in full shade now

How are you adding the CYA to the pool? We recommend putting it in a clean white sock and lay the sock in the skimmer with the pump running until it has dissolved. What exactly were you mixing in the bucket that was heating up?

When did you add the cya? Have you tested cya since then? What's the date code of the Cl?

I was mixing cya in a bucket. Heats up because of exothermic reaction. This was the original cya I added after Harvey, the one I think was bad. Can not tell what date was, I looked. Tommorrow morning I will check cya since adding today with new product. I have used both sock and adding to skimmer methods.

UPDATE: Issue solved.

I will let FC settle over next few days. Looks like I lost all cya during Harvey and my old Clorox brand cya that I purchase on clearance was bad. One addition of HTH brand ( which I ALWAYS used in past) did the trick. I will work on CH after FC settles.
