I have Intex 18x52 with 80110-2 sand filter and Krystal Klear SWG. I also have the Intex pool cleaner that runs on return flow. Last year I didn’t have any problems running the automatic cleaner. This year I back flush the filter and the cleaner works for a few minutes and then stops moving. I disassembled the cleaner and lubed the directional valve without any improvement. Short of a higher capacity pump, which would be limited by the small dual inlets, what type of improvements would you recommend? Thanks!

How does your filter pressure gauge look during all of this? Does it go up just before the cleaner stops? I wonder if the water lines are competing for water pressure? Basically, curious if your filter is dirty/overwhelmed. One way to tell, does the cleaner work fine if you place the multiport valve on recirculate?

Hello Texas. This is the first winter that I left the pool up. Wisconsin weather can be harsh on pools. There has been a lot of little spring buds and such in the water. I have been back flushing every morning as the pressure gauge moves into the green/yellow border line. The cleaner does work better on recirculate setting. The temps have not been conducive to entering the water yet. Perhaps when the water warms, I will need to be very aggressive at cleaning. I used to have a pool with the single inlet and the suction was way stronger.

Yeah, that seems to indicate the pool may need a season-opening SLAM Process. As the filter gets overwhelmed, it simply cannot support water flow and accessories. Hopefully you have one of the recommended test kits to do so. Test Kits Compared
