My pre party screw up!

So having a huge 3rd birthday party for my daughter on the 1st. Pool was sparkling as always, but I decidednto power wash the concrete deck and coping around the pool. Well, that ended pretty bad with plenty of dirt and dust finding its way into the pool, causing it to be a cloudy mess!

So far I bumped up the chlorine level, since I anticipate a high blather load. I've been running the pump and I'm on my fourth cycle with Doheny discovery. Just turned off the pump to see if the dust will settle, then I'll run the robot again.

Any ideas? My pool is usually the envy of the guests... and tomorrow their will be about 100 + guests.

Well crud... Literally! :p

If it was just dust and dirt it shouldn't affect your chlorine at this point, anything that was in it will have already been taken care of pretty much right after it hit the water. So there is that. You're already running a DE filter so that is going to polish the water as quickly as possible. I say you are probably correct in shutting it down overnight to see if it settles. If it doesn't, well nothing you can really do tomorrow except turn it back on and fess up to the mistake if anybody points it out.

Hoping it settles overnight for you!

The horror..... turned on the led lights, which of course came on in red. Cloudy.... cloudy... cloudy... Dpd test also came in low at 2.5 to 3 ppm . Plus the cc's are 1.5. I just dumped in a gallon of 12.5% chlorine from the pool store and I'll monitor it for a few hours while do a couple final party chores.

Raise FC up close to shock level and run the filter all night. Or at least turn the SWG onto boost mode. You're gonna need extra FC for that party anyway.

Just ran a dpd test and chlorine is 15ppm and CC's is back to 0.5. Pool looks a little better in most colors of LED, then the red LED comes on and POW!! As a side note, my "Cloudy Water" means I can't see whether the screws for the drain cover are phillips or flat headed.

pooldv: I tried the mesh filters on my Discovery instead of the pleated filters a few days ago. Although they did pick up gunk, like hair, bugs and random leaves, they don't come close to cleaning like the pleated inserts. I'm back with the pleats... and probably try on an old pair of corduroy pants since I like the pleats so much.

Good progress. Pool should be good in the morning.

I hear ya. I finally caved to the peer pressure a few of days ago and tried the pleats. I must admit they are better. I'm saying no to corduroys no matter what!

Opposite here, I run a combo set, or pleats. Dust load demands it. Unless you like that dusty haze in the water.

Wait, Dusty Haze- that sounds like the name of a 70s rock band who would wear corduroys...
