Help!
I’ve had this pool for 10 years for no problem. The water was clear, blue, it was easy. Earlier this past winter we had black algae, our first algae that wouldn’t go away. After a month of fighting it, it finally went back to normal. Then on 4th of July weekend the pool turned green and never went back to blue again. I have balanced the water, used algaecide, shocked it twice weekly, brushed it every day, ran the filter nonstop for 3 months, changed the filter every day (I have 3 filters), and it’s been the same shades of green. It’s been 3 months, super hot, and I’m so upset as I type this. I just want to swim in my pool. I’m probably doing something wrong, can you please point me in the right direction? IMG_5822.jpeg

Welcome to the forum!
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100/Pro or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

Chlorine is what kills alage. Filtering, time, patience and believe it or not, algeaecide do not kill algae.

Sorry you didn't find us earlier, but we can help get you clear again. Follow the advice above and get a good test kit and get ready to SLAM. It will take more than a week and require lots of chlorine and testing, but you should be able to get it clear soon enough and hopefully get a swim in this season.
