Hello - i have a vinyl ~25,000 gal pool with SWCG and here are my numbers - i think everything is close to acceptable ranges - any suggestions:

FC 7
CC .4
CYA 42
PH 7.2
TA 50
CH 70

I have a bag of CYA - i was going to try to get my CYA up - i think i also need to get my PH up (i acid washed my coping 2 days ago so I wonder if the low(ish) PH is related)

How do you test your water? TFP recommends rounding up CYA test results. You don't want to overshoot your target.

CYA is acidic and will lower pH. Pool Math should be able to calculate pH drop based on the amount added. I use the Old PoolMath Webpage, so not sure how the app works.

It may be best to wait until pH rises before adding CYA. In your area, there should be reason to rush increasing your CYA level.

I've never had to add anything to increase pH or TA...I'm always fighting the opposite direction. Maybe @mknauss can chime in with some advice.

Is your TA normally stable? What's the TA of your fill water? You're at the lower range of recommended levels for TA. Do you normally see a rise in pH? Soda ash will increase both TA and pH, so it may be a good option before adding CYA.

Do not use soda ash. Use baking soda to add 20 ppm TA. Then let things mix for a couple days and test pH and TA.
