Just posting this as a general recommendation. When I decided to start taking care of my pool, I decided to purchase a Maytronics Dolphin Signma robot. Yes - it is pricey, but my thought is that by getting rid of my pool service person - I would have this thing paid for within 1 season. In any case, it just so happened that this thing arrived the day that was the last day my pool person was going to clean my pool. I hadn't told him yet because I was curious how much stuff my robot would clean immediately after him cleaning. In any case - holy cow. The amount of Crud that this thing picked up versus the so-called pro was just astounding to me. When you think about it though - it makes sense - the pool guy spends maybe 15 minutes at your place - maybe 30 minutes at the longest. The pool robot clean cycle is 2 1/2 hours - so the robot is essentially spending 2 hours and 15 minutes longer taking care of your pool then the the pro! I don't run my robot every day - instead - I like to run it on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's. While I know that some people like to leave the robot in the pool the entire time and set schedules, I have a cart that I purchased for the robot and I take it out of the pool when not running it. I do this more for the aesthetics as I love how clean the pool looks without either the robot (or previously pressure side cleaner) in the pool. Anyway - I can't speak to all robots but at least the one that I purchased is working awesome. The robot scrubs the waterline so my tile looks fabulous. I could never get the pool person to actually scrub the tile. In any case - I highly recommend biting the bullet and purchasing one. I am not affiliated with them and will not earn any commission :) Just posting my experience!
