Hey Folks....Now that I am finally getting my water quality right...time to move to next issue....I have a Hayward RS1500 Pump...is the Leslie's Branded Super II series...I looked at manual and have been reading on here and the net...The manual says the pump with 1 1/2" piping pumps 45 gpm... x 60 is 2700 mph..so my 15,800 pool will turn over once every 5.85 hours...

ok..then I read about head pressure yada yada...how is that figured and do i need to worry about that stuff..or just shoot for running the pump at least 6 hours a day?

And after I post this....I see the sticker topic up top, Hydraulics 101, on I think what I am asking about..so off I go to read...

Thank you!

Ed

Ed,

You are just making your brain hurt for no reason... :p

Turnovers is somewhat of a myth. There is no link between turnovers per day and keeping your pool chlorinated and crystal clear.

You can run your pump as long as you want, but you only need to run your pump for the following reasons..

1. To keep surface debris moving and being pushed into the skimmers. The more debris the more often you need to run the pump.

2. If you have a Salt Water Chlorine Generator (SWCG) you'll need to run it long enough to generate the amount of chlorine needed.

3. To circulate the water to ensure the chlorine is effectively distributed throughout the pool. Two or three hours per day is all that is needed for this to happen in most pools.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I love you guys...!!..Jim..you are right..I read that for 15 minutes and my brain started to hurt..was the same feeling I USED TO GET...when I was using Pool Stores...Woohoo..I am free....free at last...ok...so I will..test it and see...I'll get it figured out...and is a great feeling to know you all are here at the drop of a chlorine jug to help!

Thanks again!
