Mustard Algae?

Good morning! So a few reminders:
- No need to increase teh FC so high. I know your thread is titled Mustard Algae, but honestly we aren't sure you have it just yet. Even if you do have MA, the process is teh same initially. You must perform the normal SLAM Process and pass those 3 criteria noted above in the earlier post. With a CYA of 40, don't bother going above an FC of 16. You'll only waste chlorine and you end up using more reagents for testing. We also don't want you to do anything bad to the liner.
- Now if it's been a while since you tested the CYA, but might want to do that soon just to make sure you are indeed at the proper SLAM FC level.
- When you can, I would like to see 2 or 3 pics of your pool form a distance so we can see everything from different angles.

I checked the CYA and it is at 40. Just took the solar cover off and it's looking pretty good. I only have a couple small patches probably 6" each or less. I won't add anymore chlorine. I took the ladder out a long time ago and I have nothing in there right now but a new vacuum hose. Those ladders are algae keepers. The solar cover is brand new however, I put it on before I knew I had a problem. The old solar cover I'm pretty sure was the culprit and I should've thought twice before putting it on that pool. That was my bad. The new solar cover more than likely picked up the algae or whatever. It needs to be scrubbed and I'm going to get into the pool and scrub walls and that cover today and see how that works out.

That looks exactly like the same crud I have in my pool! Same color same shapes. I am finishing up a SLAM now and still had some this morning but my pool is clear and I am passing OCLTs. No idea if it is regular algae or mustard algae. But I feel your pain!
Editing to add I also thought mine was dirt everyday and vaccuumed it up only for it to come back the next then my pool started turning teal. My ladder when I took it out was algae plagued in the steps. I am considering ending my SLAM with a mustard algae slam but haven't decided on that yet or not.

I've been dealing with this for almost 3 weeks now. It's extremely frustrating. I bought new solar cover, brushes, hand vac, vac hose, and put the old stuff in bleach and kept everything but the culprit, the old solar cover. Today I got in the pool and vacuumed the whole thing including the walls, then brushed them as well as top and bottom of new solar cover. I'm ready to pull my hair out. It's really hard work. I'm letting my chlorine drop and do another OCLT again tonight. I hate getting up at 4:30AM to test the water.

I hear ya. Mine started around Fathers Day after a bad storm, pool hasn't been right since until now it is finally almost back to normal. Not sure if it mustard algae it doesn't grow on walls just on the edges of my pool. And when I try to pick it up it poofs away.
 
My robot wouldn't pick it up. I had to hand vac after it turned from brown to whitish after SLAM. Before, I thought it was just dirt. I used my little non-electric leaf vac and it just made it scatter, it was back in a couple hours. It was all over the bottom. Never saw or felt anything on the sides. The rain doesn't help. It seems like all it does is rain. I did find one thing today though. In the skimmer flap, there is a little piece of foam stuff and it had green/yellow on it. I took it out and put straight bleach on it and it went away. Ya gotta check little places like that.

Checked FC at 9:30PM last night and it was 16. Checked this morning at 4:45AM and it was 15. Checked at noon and it was still at 15. CC = 0 CYA = 40 PH = 7.5 ALK =110 There was a tiny bit of something but the water was crystal clear. I vacuumed and cleaned the filter again. I'm leaving the solar cover off tonight so I can see how it looks tomorrow morning. If nothing is in the water, I'm going to have to scrub that new cover better. Might be something hanging on it.
