I just wanted to post a picture here to make sure that what I have in my pool is mustard algae or something else? When I brush it, it puffs up in the air and it seems to come back out even after running the filter
Test results:
CYA: 50
Chlorine: 2.5
pH: 7.6
Alkalinity: 60
Your FC is awfully low for a 50 CYA, how are you chlorinating your water?
Have you previously performed the SLAM Process? If not then that's the first step. I wouldn't treat it as mustard algae unless you fully complete that process, maintain your FC well within target levels for your CYA level, and then still see stuff like this popping up.
I should confirm too, are you using a TF-100 or Taylor k2006 to test your water?
Maybe mustard algae or just regular old algae (most is regular old algae) either way the prescription is the SLAM Process with liquid chlorine.
You’ll need a proper test kit for this (tf100/pro or taylor k2006c) Test Kits Compared
Filtering does nothing to stop the proliferation of algae it simply physically removes particulates that are large enough for it to catch- you need Adequate free chlorine to actually kill the algae & stop the cycle. FC/CYA Levels
