Mustard algae or pollen??

Hello, I'm new to the forum and to owning a pool, I got my pool late season last year! I live in Toronto, Canada.

This year I have something at the bottom of my pool that I can't decifer if it's mustard algae or pollen.

It's not growing on walls and it's on shady and sunny areas.
I've slammed it and vacummed and theres way less of it but still there.

Can someone please help

And if mustard, should I use Yellow treat?

Is it ok to slam if I have a salt water pool ?

Certainly. The salt in the pool water has no effect on pool water chemistry.

Yes. Check the SLAM level for you SW pool on FC/CYA Levels.

Your SWG is adding chlorine.... LC will add chlorine... both your SWG chlorine and the LC will breakdown to salt to be reused by your SWG.

Another thing is I can't seem to get a hold of the fas dpd test here in Ontario. How can I get the cya and cc values?

That is a struggle in Canada. The tests are available (Lowry and Assoc or poolsupplyhaus.ca) but very expensive. Better option is to ship a TF100 or K2006C to a mail drop at the border and cross over into the USA and pick it up.
