Mustard Algae how did it happen w/ 5.6 FC & 0 CC

I need help, please.

I tested my pool a few days ago after I noticed little deposits of beige-green in the shallow end of my pool and green in my light niches (our lights are missing). After reading through the Algae section I am positive it is mustard algae based on the description, it is yellowish green and grows in the shady areas of the pool. I am confused, though, because my levels were good when I tested, except my CYA is very low.

FC 5.6
CC 0
Ph 7.5
TA 40
CYA 35 ish (so low it was hard to tell)

So here are my questions:

#1 How did this happen if my FC is high?

#2 There is no CC and I am confused by that. I thought CC indicated killing of organic contaminates.

#3 I know the solution is to SLAM following the description in the mustard algae section. However, in about a week our pool is being drained and the liner replaced. Should I bother SLAMing? If not, just brush regularly and keep the FC up?

Incidentally, I was explaining TFP to the guy replacing the liner after he took the pool measurements. I told him I do nearly nothing to it on TFP. He said, "I'm not buying it" which shocked me. But now that I have diagnosed mustard algae and he may have also, I feel a little embarrassed and really want to know what I did or didn't do in this case. TFP is amazing and I don't want him to be misinformed.

Re: Mustard Algae (pretty sure) but 5.6FC and 0 CC

What is your CYA?

Looks like this stuff is the devil! Normal SLAM won’t kill it... read this.

Don't bother telling pool people about the, it's like teaching Klingon to a Mandarin speaking Chinese using hand signals from a tee ball game.

I would just be happy, replace the liner, and continue on.
