Muriatic Acid

I have been using PH down sold for spas (dry acid). I would like to instead use MA, but here is my issue. Everything that is sold in the stores is too large a quantity and too strong for my needs. I have a 330 gallon hot tub, so I am looking at adding in only a couple of ounces out of a gallon jug. Does anyone know if you can buy weaker MA, or smaller quantities? I don't really want to mess around with trying to pour off an ounce or two of MA out of a gallon jug, which is why I have just been using the dry stuff which quite honestly has been working fine. Once I get the tub dialed in I really only add it less than once a week, perhaps even every other week.

You can often find “low fume” MA in the paint section that is typically 15% MA (half strength). Buy one of these liquid measuring containers designed for low volumes -

Tip-N-Measure Container, Quart Size (32oz.), Up to 4oz. Measuring Capacity

Then just pour off some of the MA into it. That will make measuring and handling a cinch.

That is what I use in my hot tub...the 'safer' MA. Works great. If you get it at Lowes, it will be in the paint dept with other solvents like thinner, etc. It will be the green labeled jugs. Virtually zero fumes, but still stings plenty if you splash a drop on your skin...trust me.
