I'm lowering my TA using Muriatic Acid.....All I could get was Kleen Strip Green 90% Lower Fume. I was wondering if this new kind of liquid muriatic acid is OK.....Also have above ground pool so I figure use 1/4 to 1/3 cup diluted in 5 gal bucket of water would be safe for vinyl and see how results are everyday and then aerate PH back up....I think that is the correct process. Thanks

I've used it and just pour from the measuring cup directly into the pool (vinyl) with no issues. Be aware it's not 31% so you will need to consider that. I think I took the poolmath recommended oz for 31% X 1.5

@JoyfulNoise does that make sense?

How much Hydrochloric acid is in Klean Strip® Green™ Muriatic Acid?
This product contains 20% Hydrochloric acid.

20% HCl is about 13 Baume. 31.45/20 ≈ 1.57 but 1.5 works fine enough.

Just realize that you are likely paying close to same price for the “Kleen Strip” stuff as regular 20 Baume MA, so it’s costing you more per fluid ounce.

Pool Stores carry MA as does Walmart or ACE Hardware. Is that not an option??

Just pour a pencil sized trickle in front of your return and then brush, no need to pre-dilute in a 5 gallon bucket. Overall that is probably more dangerous than just adding it straight to the pool.

Thanks....Checked Pool Store and Wally World....didn't have it so I had to go to Tractor Supply :)

Thanks Everyone...My only concern/ thought process with adding directly versus diluting with pool water in 5 gal bucket and then adding is that acid is heavier than water ....didn't want to add directly and have it sit on vinyl on bottom of the pool.

I just bought 2 gallons of pool acid at Home depot for $12..I have never saw it in the store when I looked but did " pickup" in my local store and they found it somewhere

The more you handle it the more likely you are to have a spill. Lean way over and pour it into the cup over the pool and then dump it in. Or just eyeball it like I do. Your pool is big enough that you're likely dealing with 20 or 30 ounces at a time. If you miss by 4 ounces, no big deal.

If you're worried about the acid pooling on the floor, grab the brush as soon as you set the jug down and give the area a few swipes to get some currents going. Like stirring cream into your coffee but on a huge scale.

As Richard said, this is the reason for my suggestion to brush the pool afterwards.
I usually don’t but I’ve got pretty good circulation/flow in my pool.
