I have a brand new Hayward SP0715XR50 multiport valve, and I'm seeing something strange:

When set to recirculate, water drips out the waste port. And when I open the air bleed on top of my (also brand new, Hayward W3DE6020) filter, water absolutely gushes out of the waste port, along with DE that I had just loaded the filter with. It's as if when the pump and return ports are connected, then the waste and filter ports are too.

Is it possible that not all ports are sealed off when the multiport is set to recirculate? I'd hate to have to tear apart the plumbing to replace a bad multiport valve.

Might help to show us some pics of the filter and MPV from different positions.
Thanks for looking into this. Hopefully the pictures make the situation clear. Basically when MPV is set to recirculate, DE-filled water drains out of filter through waste port. It stops once water level in the filter falls below the waste port.

Show us a clear picture of the top of the MPV label showing the model number.

Also show us all the labels on the filter can.

Based on your part numbers and several employee responses to q&a on inyo pools for both parts it appears that your filter and valve are compatible so i suspect a problem within the valve, namely the spider gasket. If it is new/under warranty call who you got it from explain what is happening- they may either send you the gasket or possibly other parts that can be replaced without removing plumbing.
If you do need to replace it add in some unions for ease of future maintenance.
