The valve at the #2 red arrow should have the center white arrow pointing right or left.

The center white arrow is where the internal gate is and it points to what is closed.

Pointing left means that the solar is on.

Pointing right means that the solar is off and bypassed.

What is the thing at red arrow #1?

Is it a check valve?

Is it installed correctly and working correctly?

What is the pressure with the solar on vs. off?

OK, I am lost about how your problems have changed. If the water is coming out from your returns really well then what problems remain?

Thanks for all your help. Turns out there was a crack in the piece of equipment the MPV is attached to.
