Before I forget, here is a link to the video:

It's making this sound and I am having a real hard time getting rid of it. What is causing this? Air trapped in the valve? I recently replaced the spider gasket, thought that might help with the noise but it still seems to be there. I also replaced all the grids in my DE filter (they needed it).

The weird thing about this sound, in rinse mode it's totally quiet... you just hear the hum of the pump. I'm having trouble wrapped my head around that one.

Thanks

I did a little more trouble shooting today. When the selector is on recirculate, the noise is still present (although slightly quieter). Doesn't that effectively eliminate the filter?

Also I opened it up again and the gasket was not secured. I guess I didn't let the glue dry long enough before turning the water back on. I am pretty sure this gasket type needs to be glued down, from internet research I have done. Could a loose gasket be making this sound?

Could this leak be the source of the crackling noise? Seems to be a leak where the pump housing joins the PVC. It looks like a screw on fitting, is that the case here?

Also where my auto chlorinator hooks in, it looks like when it gets installed you just drill a hole in the PVC. If I take that stuff out to try to eliminate this noise, how can I fix up that hole? (even if it's just a temporary fix to troubleshoot)

Well the PVC redone, appears I was right there was some slight intake of air past the pump... guessing it was the gasket/hole for the chlorinator, it had been eaten away over the years and the gasket wasn't able to keep up with the expanding hole. Got rid of all that PVC and the multi port gasket is a lot quieter.
