We just moved from Ill-annoy to Florida and the house we bought has swg pool. All of our belongings were still in boxes so I took water sample to pinch-a-penny. chlorine was 0, salt was 2100, PH 7.8, cya 0, i forget what the hardness was but i added 8lbs of increaser and it brought it into range.
We didn't know the gallons of our pool but the store had 12000 for the address in their computer.
per their instruction i added 4 cups muriatic acid and 120lbs of salt. The PH went to 7.5 but the salt went to 4200.
When i was cleaning the salt cell i noticed on the inside of the controller cabinet was written 8000 gal 2006. The pool was installed in 2006 so I assume it was wriiten by the installer. My wife stopped into the store with a sample and told them to change our pool to 8000 gal. They said to add 8lbs hardness increaser, 4lb Stabilizer and 20oz sodium dichlor shock.
With my taylor kit 2 days later the Chlorine is 20 and I turned off the SWG two days ago. PH 7.8, Hardness 200, Alkalinity 80, the SWG is reading 4300 and CYA is 80. I'm afraid I'm going to have to drain some to get it right. I never had a single problem in 9 years using BBB in our pool in Ill-annoy.
Any advice would be appreciated.
