Mosquito Mister Relay Connection

Hi TFP,

I'm hoping to connect my mosquito misting system to my Easy touch system. I have Aux5 available. The mister has a garage-door-type remote the connects to a timer, which runs the mister pump for a preset period of time. It's easy to attach a trigger (could be a light switch) that will activate the timer and run the mister for the preset time period. If the switch is left closed, the machine just waits until the switch has been opened and closed again before running.

Is it possible to run a low voltage connection to the Aux5 (connecting the gray and wires to the EasyTouch circuit board) to the trigger on the mister? I THINK it would work like this: I turn on Aux5 on my EasyTouch remote, which closes the normally-open trigger on the mister. I can either deactivate Aux5 (trigger open) immediately or just leave Aux5 activated (trigger closed) until I cycle it next time I want a manual mist. (Ideally I could set one of my buttons to activate an egg timer for Aux5 so it deactivated automatically, but I don't think you can do that?)

This would leave the timer on the mister intact to run it's normal daily mists (I don't want to plug it into the EasyTouch and confuse my mosquito guy!) but let me run as needed from my wireless remotes.

Thank you for any help!!

ASW,

You can do just what you described and there is no reason that you can't add an egg-timer for Aux 5..

I can't tell by looking at your pic exactly how your mister works, but assume that you would run a wire from the mister to the line side of the Aux 5 relay, then run another wire from the load side of the Aux 5 relay back to the mister.. Closing the Aux 5 relay would basically short the two wires together. You could schedule the Aux 5 relay or turn it on manually.

Just to make sure we are both on the same page.. The Easy Touch would not be providing any power to the mister, just closing a set of contact.

Do you have ScreenLogic2???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Correct—all power is on the other side of the nest of wires. Just looking to get the relay! I’ll try tomorrow and let you know.

I don’t have Screen Logic, it’s such a simple setup that I barely use the remote as is! And the heater is on the other side of the house (previous owner used the furnace to heat the pool...so when he got a water heater he put it by the furnace and not by the pumps!), which means I can’t elegantly run a cable to it. So I just run that as needed...makes it kind of useless to automate much but at least I get my waterfall and chlorinator going!

THANK YOU! I’ve searched everywhere and haven’t found any info on the relays. This forum has been more useful than my pool guys, the builder, and the manuals combined.
