I have wailed and bemoaned a leak in our vinyl pool for the last few months. We had a new liner installed and removed the main drains before the holiday A special shoutout to my friend, @Dirk who has held my hand throughout. I wake up each morning and from habit check the pool level. There may be no greater joy than having the same level of water as the night before. 'Tis the little things in life that bring joy. Okay! Maybe a new liner is not so little but...
A big thank you to all who have aided in this journey. I leave a picture below.

I know the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop well. And it SUCKS.

Congrats and may the new live live even longer than the last one.

Just to get ahead of this one, our nights became cool and evaporation became noticeable again. Don't want you to panic when it cools off by you too. It'll be a while because TX, but still. 😁

I also have a habit of checking the pool water level every morning and, in fact, I sometimes panic if the light isn't right to actually see the water moving. All of this because of a previous catastrophic leak that drained about 1/3 of the pool into the yard one night.

I don't think he'll mind me sharing part of his story. It was very interesting. The vinyl installers set up two AGPs, and pumped his pool into those, then they installed the liner and pumped the water back after they were done. Crazy.

Up until then, he had a tough time running his pump, as the water would not maintain level. He was circulating hit and miss with a small sump pump. So, yah, he probably picked up some algae, had it pumped into the holding pools, then pumped that algae right back in.

@mcleod, best to do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test and SLAM Process if necessary.

Congrats on your beautiful, new liner, and not having to worry about your water level anymore. But even better... YOU CAN STOP CALLING ME EVERY DAY WHINING ABOUT YOUR POOL!!

Ha, ha... just kidding. ;)

Ha, ha... not really. 😛

Pffffffft. Dirk went once and set up cameras with mirrors to see all 4 corners while enjoying his morning coffee on his patio.

I didn't think of that! The cam would have been cheaper than the flights!

But don't laugh! I keep an eye on my neighbor's house when he's traveling, which is often. He appreciates getting my daily "All's well!" reports. Just yesterday, I cleared some branches from one of my trees to get a better cam view of his house, but I have a lot of trees and can still only get a narrow angle. Hmmm, maybe a mirror? I'm thinking of convincing him to get a set of cams of his own, so he and I can both get a view of his front and back yards!

Oh, but there's more! I've been lobbying all the neighbors on my block to get cams. About half already have them. The rest are into it. Then we'll post "Video Surveillance" signs all up and down the block, with the not so subtle message: "Not on this block pal, move along!" As I've said here many times: a cam won't stop a thief, but it might convince him to rob your neighbor instead! (In this case, some other neighborhood.) I would love to live on a block with enough cams to cover the entire street!
