Modifying intelliflo vst lid for blower

Hi,
Looking to purchase the cyclone and trying to see how I can modify the lid for easy blowout. I noticed the intelliflo lid has a curve as well as supporting ridges underneath which makes the seem hard to drill keep flush for the locknut and gasket. Has anyone successfully modify the lid?

Try using a piece of plywood in the lid...

Cyclone Connection to SWG Unions

I'm closing for the first time and I'm planning on removing my SWG and connecting a cyclone to the unions. Avoiding working from the skimmer since I won't be lowering the water. Avoiding a modified basket lid due to cost of getting an additional one and not sure there is any advantage to it...
