Ok. So i am new to this site. Have had a SWG for 4 yrs and yes we maintained the Mineral Springs system to a tee. We simply cant afford it anymore. 2,000 to 3000 a year just in chemicals for the pool. It is a nightmare. I need help. I am new to doing it myself as we had delivers and add what they said weekly. Please someone help me. Dont know where to start...wont open til May.

The Mineral Springs SWG system is just pool salt mixed with borates and CYA.

You can replace bags of Beginnings with normal pool salt. I like Mortons Pool Salt that I get from Walmart. I don’t recommend you use Clorox Pool Salt.

You can stop adding Renewal. Just add Pool Salt when your salt level gets low.

Check your CYA with your own test kit and add it when needed.

Over time you will lose the Borates and the silky feel of the water. You can check your borate level and add it separately.

See What's in those Mineral Springs bags?

I suggest you review abcs-of-pool-water-chemistry and Trouble Free Pool School

Ohhhhhh Eliza... I'm soooo glad you found us! With my SWG I spend at tops $150 a YEAR on pool chemicals (and that includes testing, small things like hair nets for the skimmer and the odd gallon of liquid chlorine/bleach).

We CAN save you money. TONS of it. Please ditch the mineral springs and try our suggestions.

Welcome to TFP! Truly trouble free pool methods!

The place to start................. Please read "The "ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School. The TFP method is teaching you to understand why you add (or reduce) certain chemistry. There is a learning curve but you MUST understand the basics before throwing stuff in your pool on someone else's advice.
