We have 4 microbrites (the 1.5" standard wall fitting type)- 3 in the pool - 1 in the hot tub. After 3 years of not much problem- 1 of the lights in the pool gave up- flashing red- from the forums- thats an indication it needs to be replaced. At a replacement cost of $529 -that seems ridiculous- for a prodcuts that has had at maximum 100 hours of use- has anyone else here used alternative brands/suppliers? any DIY alternatives?

People are looking at the Jandy Hydrocool P-series lights as possibly having a better life span.

You can see what lights Florida Sunseekers has.

Rumor is Pentair is saying they have improved their lights and fixed the leaking problems however I don’t know how you know if you are getting old lights or improved ones.

All the pool LED lights are too new and unproven to say what life you may get. You pay your money and take your chances.

The PENTAIR rep last night provided a picture of what was changed, the gasket (blue) and the end cap (left side) will be black in color, they also did improvements to the electronics inside.IMG_5525.png

Thanks for the intel. That is a Globrite light, not the Microbrite light being discussed in this thread.

Has Pentair made any improvements for the Microbrites?

The only changes to the lights have been on the Globrites as the other post stated. The issue with the globrites was two different types of material was used in manufacturing, the body and the end where the wire went into the light were different so when the lights were on it generated heat and the seal was broke filling the light with water which resulted in cracking the housing. That being said the microbrites have been good no manufacturing issues like the globrites. I am a Pentair warranty station and have replaced 100’s of not 1000’s of lights and what I have seen has been failure due to the interior crews covering the lights over with interior which doesn’t allow water flow around the light to keep it cool. Good luck

Welcome to TFP. Hope you stick around and can help with Pentair stuff.

That with which model of lights?

Many people think no water should get around the light.
