I dosed it with a higher amount of MM. I do see a little staining that may have returned. It’s hard to judge as it looks different at different time of the day with the sunlight.
Interesting thing I found. It had been several weeks or more since I had cleaned the filter. When I pulled the cartridge and began to wash it I noticed the filter pleats had the same brownish color on it. I recognized it as the same color that gets on my whole house filter element, and it’s from the iron in the water. I have 2 house filter elements I rotate when changing it so that I can clean one while keeping the water in service to the house. Years ago I figured out if I soaked it in some citric acid it would clean the iron off the filter. Figuring it was the same iron on my pool filter, I mixed up a strong batch in a spray bottle. I started to spray the pleats from top to bottom and worked my way around the filter. By the time I got back to the starting point it had already washed off and was white again. I did the same on the inside and then washed the filter really well.
In all these years I have never had the filter element turn that brown color from the iron. I know the MM claims the suspended iron can be trapped in the filter and this looks like what happened. I am going to keep the MM maintenance dose up and see what happens.
My robot’s pleated filter gets badly stained by the iron. This was happening before I ever added any sequesterant. I cleaned it with aa after adding my initial “loading dose” of metal magic and I plan to use it’s condition as my gauge for when its time to replenish the MM.
