Meghan’s Pool Closing Thread

The salt cell can stay in place or be taken inside and the pipe ends plugged with expanding rubber plugs (aka winterizing plugs). It can handle the elements just fine. That said, I bring my own inside because it was stupid expensive and I would never leave $1500 cash in a snow drift simply because 'it can handle it" and be dried off later.

The filter gets cleaned *and dried* and then same as the SWG, put back into place or brought inside with the now exposed pipes plugged.

That's called "BE BACK GUARANTEE" they want the opening business too but as @Newdude said it there's no reason for them to take it with them. All my pool parts get left where they belong except the a few that want the cell indoors at the op's property.

Haha! Not surprised. The reason I was given was sometimes mice like to hide in there and eat away at filter and I was thinking “how on earth could they get to the filter?!” Seemed like a bit of a scare tactic, however I have been very happy with this pool company!

So, sounds like there would be no damage done just keeping the filter right where it is this winter. I’ll wash it, let it dry, and put it back in the holding tank.

There are mice at the pool services shop also. I doubt they store them in a bank vault.... which probably still had a sneaky mouse get in when the door was open. :ROFLMAO:

But mice are a real concern. I seal up the ports with caps or lots of tape. (Used to be stored in my garage, now will be stored in the shed)

Nope. None at all. @wireform what does she do with a DE filter? My cartridges needed removing and drying. Do her grids care or do they dry themselves ?
