male/female adapters for pool inlet connections

I've been looking at changing my pool's return inlets to use one that can do better at directing the flow of return water. But all the options I find are threaded male (1-1/2" standard size) expecting the pool to be threaded female. My pool is threaded male. So I need an adapter that has threaded female on both sides to adapt. I haven't been able to find such adapters though I suspect I'm not the only one with this problem. Suggestions?

Odd - so your pool connections stick out from the wall? Can you post a pic?
