My question is about LSI, because the water temp is 42 degrees. In order to get my LSI in a reasonable range my ph needs to be around 7.8-7.9, is this a problem? With lower temps its seems TA needs to be high as well to stay in a reasonable LSI range. As I lower ph it also drives my TA lower.

Currently If I lower Ph
42 degrees 42 degrees
3.5 Free Chlorine 3.5
7.9 ph 7.6
320 calcium 320
110 TA 80
0 CYA 0
2000 TDS 2000
LSI of .07 LSI of -3.2

So you see the conundrum, would it be better to have a higher ph and a perfect LSI or perfect ph and an aggressive LSI

there’s an article in the wiki on LSI vs CSI, the latter this forum prefers to focus on.

A pH in the 7s is fine. 7.9 is fine as is 7.6. There’s not really a “perfect”

If you want to keep your CSI more neutral in the winter letting your pH creep up is fine.

A neutral CSI means your chemistry is balanced more so then any “ideal” target on a single number.
