I opened up to green water and started a SLAM last night. Before I added chlorine to start the SLAM, I thought that I added enough baking soda to increase the TA from 40 to 60 and I put a sock of stabilizer in front of a return to increase the CYA to 30. When I tested my water this morning, the baking soda addition had only increased the TA to 50. The sample turned clearish at 4 drops and dark hot pink at 5 drops. I added one more drop and I didn't notice much of a color change. I saw no color change at 7 drops either. I assume this means that the TA is 50. Its possible that I miscalculated the baking soda dose since I didn't weigh it when adding it and I was worried about overshooting it. Should I add more baking soda to increase the TA to 60?

Also, the baking soda appears to have increased the PH because it looks like it is either 8.0 or 8.2 now. It was 7.6 when I added the baking soda. FC was only 1.5 ppms when I tested the PH this morning so high chlorine isn't throwing off the numbers. Do I need to add some muriatic acid to decrease the PH from 8.0 to 7.6? Or should I not worry about it since I'm going to be adding 4 lbs of stabilizer over the next 24-48 hours which should decrease the PH by .37 ppms according to the Pool Math calculator? Since muriatic acid lowers TA and baking soda increases the PH, I am nervous about adding both of them to my pool. If I need to add both muriatic acid and baking soda, I need to know which one to add first and how long to wait before adding the next one.
