My TA is around 110. Would like to lower to around 60-80 but was wondering if adding acid alone would lower.
In no rush but would like to know if any way of telling how long it takes to lower TA.

When PH gets to around 7.8 I am adding 500ml of acid.

Thanks

If you stay the course and manage Ph in the high 7s, TA will come down on its own and settle where it wants to be.

If you wish to speed it up, manage Ph in the low 7s, then switch back to the high 7s once the TA has lowered.

You're close enough that I wouldn't bother messing with it, but I can't guarantee I wouldn't get impatient on day 9. I very well might. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve been handling this over the last few days. I have my waterfall going all day and the pool gets to 7.8ish on Ph, I add some acid to get it down to 7.2. Repeat. My TA has come from 150 to (just now tested) 80. It has taken about 8 days. I plan to try for 70 tomorrow then maintain there with Ph at 7.6 ish. Pool Math has been an absolute game changer in how I balance my pool.

You might find, if you target 7.6, that your TA continues to drop.

I'd recommend, when TA get to 60-80, that you maintain a pH of 7.8-8.0. It will be fairly stable there. It will also be perfectly fine for humans, pool and equipment.
