Losing Pressure

My pool is new this year. It’s been tough to keep clean with the weather and paver work and loose dirt around it. I back washed yesterday and the returns were pretty strong, but just 12 hours later there’s almost no return visible. I’m not losing water so I know there are no leaks. Could I just need a thorough cleaning of the filter?

Most pool filters getting plugged quickly is from algae.

Do you have a complete set of test results from your own test kit?

What is the pressure on your filter when it is clean. I have the pentair 6o sq ft filter and my clean pressure is around 20#, so when it rises to 25 # (25% increase) it's time for a backwash. If you don't know, them do a backwash and see if that fixes it. Depending on how new your pool is, your filter may be clogged with dust from the new plaster, in which case it would definitely need to be backwashed.

Thank you both. I don't have test results handy, but figured a loss of pressure or waterflow in 12 hours is a problem regardless.

I never understood about the pressure on the pump until now. Crusemm you explain it well. Honestly I never look at the guage immediately after backwash. I will see after work (if the rain stops)
