Loop lock extreme, was it worth it ?

I am in need of and about to order a new cover. The main trouble spots on the old cover were where the coping damaged and tore the cover I guess from years of wind blowing it up and down. Was thinking of cutting the old one up and using it to put between the new cover and the coping to protect it from rubbing on the brick coping. Any thoughts or is there a better product to protect the new cover. Now the old Loop Loc lasted about 14 years and definitely has to be replaced.
Thanks

Welcome back Lungs !!!

My stairs had sharp corners and they doubled up the padding there. It didn't add anything to the cost but YMMV on the dealer. Mine was likely already overcharging me enough to eat it. :ROFLMAO: ($2750 + 10% upcharge for grey + $500 install). I used the guy in Mattituck.

The wind would probably blow the loose parts eventually if they weren't attached.

When my cover was measured and made, they put reinforcement in all of the "hot spots". That has prevented any damage from my coping and rock waterfall. Suggest this to them where it needs reinforcing. If you are going with actual "LoopLock" they I think that is standard. Anyone else make sure to mention it.

Now that you mention it, my 1st pool was beefed up with no extra charge around the stairs also, with rounded corners that didn't need it as much.

I have corners like @Newdude showed and place folded up old towels on the corners as cushions when the cover is put on.

Even if the cover had beefed up areas I would put cushions between any abrasive or sharp coping and the cover.

I bought a standard HPI Yardguard cover for my pool. The cover was meant for 8 foot wide stairs mine are 4 foot wide. There is extra reinforcement for the stair corned at in the 8 foot width area. I put a sheet of 1 inch foam sheeting over the corners of my stairs to help limit any wear on the cover. Mine was around $1400 and I did the install. I only installed it last year so not much knowledge of how it's going to hold up over time. The pool was pretty clean when I opened it this spring. Water was clear, and there one only a little more leaves and debris that using a solid cover and water bags.
