Little stains on liner. Help!

Hi all. These little brown stains started appearing on my liner randomly all over. The stains don’t go away with typical pool brush or rubbing with my finger. My pool chemistry is all fine. Local pool store is recommending metal out. Although they tested for Iron with a test strip and showed negative. Any ideas?

Was anyone doing any landscaping recently with fertilizer?

If you put a crushed up vitamin c tablet in a sock on them (or whole tablet on one dot) does it go away?

Maybe metal particles from some type of work nearby?

Things like SOS cleaning pads, sanding or cutting metal etc.
