Anyone have any experience with these liquid solar products? They claim to help hold the heat in without the use of a pool cover. I am VERY SKEPTICAL to say the least but I am curious if anyone has ever used them and what they think of them....
They work on the principle of increasing surface tension so water doesn't evaporate as readily. Most of heat loss in a pool is due to evaporation. So they do help but it's hard to quantify how much.
It's supposed to spread across the pool just one molecule thick. I found it also ruined the seals on my electronic thermometers, so I couldn't really tell if it was working. I became concerned for what it might be doing to other equipment. I sure wouldn't recommend it. A solar cover works much better.
