Liner Track Corrosion

Hello everyone. My 11yo pool is getting some serious corrosion on the aluminum liner track at the top. I noticed this happening 5-6 years ago and added anodes, but the problem is getting worse. This is a Latham composite pool, but the track used was aluminum. I know each piece is grounded as I did all of the grounding myself.

When I get to the point of replacing the liner, is there anything I can do about the track to avoid ripping up all the concrete? I was thinking of adding a side mount, pvc track, with stainless fasteners into the composite walls. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I don't know exactly why it's corroding, but I'd suggest checking the anodes to make sure they are installed so that they protect the tracks and to make sure they aren't worn down. You might also try softer metal anodes.

Is is grounded or bonded? Check to see if there is a voltage difference between the track and other bonded equipment. How is the chemistry of the pool?

Concrete and aluminum generally don't play together nicely once the coating on the aluminum is damaged. At this point I am not sure much can be done, maybe sanding and painting the corroded areas, but this is likely to mainly be cosmtic.
