Lightning damage - motor and/or pump

Another day, another thunderstorm here in sunny FLA...unfortunately our pool equipment took the brunt this time, as everything was running fine until after last night’s lightning show. I am looking for suggestions on replacement equipment, as the current set up was all at the suggestion of Leslie’s. My dad was ready to go up there today to buy whatever they wanted to sell him; fortunately since taking over the maintenance of my parent’s pool last year and learning so much here at TFP, I know better than that and told him to hold up. I am attaching pictures of their current set-up. Note that they are no longer using the in-line chlorinator (thank you TFP). I think that what is labeled in the attached pictures as the Emerson 1081 is actually a booster motor that was bought when they got the original Kreepy Krawley. But I could be way off on that. I am still learning.

Did you confirm using a voltmeter that you have power to the motor and the motor does not run?

It could be a burnt out starting capacitor. There are motor shops who can rebuild motors.

If you were going to replace your motor & pump then consider a variable speed pump. It can save you a lot in electricity costs depending on your daily pump run time and local electrical costs. There may be energy rebates in your local area for getting a VS pump.

Before you shell out for all new equipment, did you check and make sure the breakers are still good? If you decide you want all new equipment anyway, do you have a budget in mind? Would you like a total redo with pump, filter, SWG, and automation? Will you be doing the install or hire it out?

Yes, the breakers are still good. Not looking to change the filter, about a month ago I bought a brand new cartridge to replace the one that had been there 10+ years. Not looking for SWG either; the pump is programmed to turn on/off through our electric company (they have a web portal that allows you to program your thermostat, water heater, and pool pump, so automation is not necessary. Between myself and my two brothers, we can handle the install, but I am not opposed to hiring it out. As far as budget, would like to keep it around $500, but there is some flexibility in that number.
