Light out of water

Hi all, I had my light burn out recently and pulled it out of the water to check it out. Long story short, it won’t be until the 18th when the new lamp comes in... I will have the new gasket sooner.

Right now I have the fixture disassembled out of the water, plastic wraped the front of it, and put it face down on the patio... have the other parts inside because I don’t want that glass lying next to the pool.

Its been out of the pool for about 6hrs now and started noticing the cable is starting to dry and show some white buildup on it.

Should I close it back up without the lamp and old gasket and drop it back into its niche so the cable doesn’t weather, or should it be okay for a week out of the pool? My gut feeling is that this cable isn’t really made for weather exposure.

Thanks for any insight or past experiences!
