I just noticed my pool pump is leaking. It is a slow leak, just enough to make a wet spot on the concrete pad. How serious is this? Is it OK to to leave it running. Does it need to be replaced right away? Can it be repaired or does it need to be replaced?

What kind of pump do you have? It's possible it might just be that you need a new gasket for the pump basket lid. I've had that happen before. I just turned off the pump, removed the gasket and took it to Leslie's to get a new one.

It is important to know where the leak is in the pump. A plumbing leak, or at a drain plug, will be a waste of water and is usually easy to see. Water at the bottom of the pump is usually a seal and will damage/destroy the motor if left alone too long.
