My StaRite cartridge filter unit has been leaking from several places for a while now. The assembly is original and little over 15 years old. O ring has been replaced and clamps absolutely tight. I'm guessing it's just past it's prime. They are not cheap, but unless someone has a better idea, i guess its time. I'll defer to the pros on this forum. Thoughts?
Thanks for your input.

Hey bware!!! Add some pics when you have a chance.

Do you have the 8 clamps like the current models ? Or more of a belt kinda thing ?

NVM. Found it in your history. E7DC9AB6-921A-4B2B-A65A-AFDFE8E82BAB.jpeg

AFAIK the housing in indestructible. I had one for 9 years and it was as rock solid the day we moved as the day it was new. I’d guess that the rubber hula hoop was defective.

Did you use Jacks Magic Lube or equivalent?
Did you tighten the clamps in a star pattern like changing a flat tire ? Once I finished with the star pattern I would go one by one around the circle and everytime I got a few more turns on one, the sister on either side took another turn too. At some point I would just give up and fire it up.

Yes, used Jack’s and used the star pattern. I cleaned the filters twice a year since new and replaced the giant o ring once. I was told by my pool guy these filter housings would eventually give up so figured it was time. Believe I will give a new ring a shot before I do that.
Thanks for your input on this, newdude.

I guess everything has to warp eventually. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t forget to give the gasket channel a good looking/cleaning too. The first time I opened mine to clean it, I put the lid down right side up and it got filled with mulch. I laid it down upside down everytime thereafter. :ROFLMAO:

How did you make out with the great TX freeze last year ? Maybe it was weakened and finally let go.

Also for reference I bought another one after moving anticipation a build this last spring. It was $1975 after tax and it took alot of doing to find it. Nobody seems to have it since. You may need to look at the Clean and Clear 520 if that’s all they have, and it’s equally a top notch filter if you have to settle. Kinda like settling for a Ferrari instead of a Lamborghini. Boohoo. Ya know ?

Yeah, it was leaking before the deep freeze last Feb. I ordered a new o ring and will make sure the channel is spotless and lubed up good.
I found out about the scarcity of this filter and was recommended the Clean & Clear as a sub.

Pro tip: Them Covid gloves you have laying around will make cleaning up SO much easier. It’s miserable trying to wash off something designed to repel water. You just shmear it around your hands and make it worse. :ROFLMAO:
