Leak from pump lid and air in returns

When in spa mode, I assume your pump rpm is greater or all the flow is directed to the spa. That will pull air in through the air inlet line, even with the blower turned off. I suspect you could kick the blower on for a minute, turn it off, and all the jets will have air out of them.

Tried that. Bubbles came out of 3 more returns (original + 2 more) momentarily after I turned off the blower but then went back to just the 1 return with bubbles.

Is that normal? Do I need to fix anything?

Did the ceramic seal on the motor shaft burn up (hence the smoke)? Maybe this is where the air is getting sucked in?
