lazy northerner's pool toy question

Hi all you Northerners whose pools freeze solid,
We've put the River Rafts under the winter cover to help keep some of it away from the water but was wondering about the round rings, floaties and rafts.
Question:
1. Have any of you just thrown the inflatables under the winter cover and let them sit in the frozen solid ice over the winter?
2. Is there any draw-back or unforeseen problem this lazy northerner has to think about?

Deflate it all. Not only is ice sharp, but freezing temps make the floaties material super brittle. Foam pool noodles are fine - they break down more from UV.
