Question about inground pool.
I have been working on different components of the pump and filter for over a week. The pump seems to be drying water in but very slowly. Water is not returning through the jets. At first I thought there may be an air leak but I have checked everywhere and cannot find one.
I have discovered that the bottom of the stand pipe on the laterals in the filter is broke. it is a plastic piece that sits on the bottom of the standpipe that makes the water go through the laterals. Therefore when the water runs down the pipe it is not going out the laterals it is just going into the filter. I do not use sand in my filter I have the filter balls. I did notice a couple of the filter balls in the jet returns So I think this is the same concept as when sand gets into the pool from broken lateral system.
I am wondering about the water not returning to the jet. The pump runs but it doesn’t seem to have pressure to go through the system but when I turn off the pump, I get a big surge or whoosh of water back into the pump from the filter like it is pressurized inside of the filter. I even removed all the filter balls out of the filter to see if it would run correctly without them in the way and it does not.
Would the broken bottom of the standpipe affect the water not returning to the jets?
