Landscaping/Drainage ideas around 15x30

Having a Pool Factory 8000 15x30 AGP installed in May. Its going to be at the flat part of my yard at the bottom of a mild slope. I am looking for ideas for rain water drainage around the pool. Most I have seen are a French drain around the pool with rocks 18-24" as cover. Anyone have other methods or experience with this? I searched the forum but many older threads do not have working photos.
