My first question is what is the salt cell % on this system. I have tried googling but cannot find any info. Would love to plug the right % into the pool math app.

My other question is concerning the electrode self-clean. When you set it does that mean it runs for 6 (or 10 or 14) hours straight or it just reverses polarity every 6/10/14 hours that it is running? I want to make sure that I do not need to run the pump longer (or manually if 14 hrs straight) or it’s just set it & go because it just does while it is in it’s normal run time so no need to adjust pump times.

Thanks all!

Those units are always on 100% you can only adjust the run time.
Intex lists the grams per hour for their units (in the manual usually)
You then must convert that to #’s/day (24 hrs)
To use the poolmath calculator.
Keep in mind that I don’t think they will run 24 hrs - i think 11 may be the max.
You can dose to target fc w/ liquid chlorine & just start with 8 hrs run time, see if it keeps up & then repeat the process to adjust as needed until it maintains your necessary fc level FC/CYA Levels
Its always best to manually dose & then allow the swg to maintain vs waiting on it to produce & risking falling below minimum for your cya.

It just reverses its polarity to clean itself. No need to do anything different.

Thank you! I do dose with the liquid chlorine when needed vs wait on my SWG….like when I did a test run of just a one time 8/7 hour run. I was trying to figure out out long SWG needs to maintain it & plug in right amount of the cell% into app hehe. The cap is 12 hrs and I have the pump set for 8 hrs & SWG for 7 hrs. I start them overnight to run the full 8/7 hrs and then in the afternoon I will start it & run it after it has been off for like 5hrs. Sometimes that is a full run sometimes I turn it off when we go in. I try to give it a 5 hour break between runs. I would rather do multiple runs for the skimmer to clean out stuff than one 12 hour run and 12 off (or whatever one time run of x hours).

I THINK it would be better to break it up & have skimmer work vs large chunk with skimmer off but let me know if that is bad thinking lol. Am I working it too hard running it 8/7 hours twice a day (less when we use it because I turn it off to keep waves from dumping skimmer back out into pool)? I clean skimmer & sock at least once a day (twice when needed…I always check before I start it). Somehow June bugs find their way into my pump basket despite sock & skimmer lol.

Okay I clicked on the self cleaning and set it for 10hrs and it went back to showing the SWG run time so hopefully set to reverse polarity every 10 hours. I do not see anything showing it is on so hopefully on. I ran it a week without that set :(. I also never see the Ozone light on but I do not stare at the entire 7 hour run. I am guessing that comes on with a boost run which I have not done yet since my FC has been good until I did a single run but supplemented with liquid chlorine. Should I do like a weekly boost or do not bother if FC good?

Again thank you!

If your fc is keeping with target 🎯 FC/CYA Levels there’s no need to supplement.
If u don’t want to fiddle with the settings all the time u can just set the pump to run for much longer than the swg to do more skimming. I like mine to be skimming during the day & when I’m going to be looking at the pool, so around 10-12 hrs.
To accomplish this for example- u could turn the pump on at 9am & set it for 12 hrs (it will turn off at 9pm)
Then 2 hours later turn the swg on & set it for say, 8 hrs (off @7pm) - they should complete their cycles & turn off, then automatically turn back on tomorrow & everyday thereafter at the same time if left alone. The only exception is power failure, in which case they would both need to be reset. Whatever run times u decide on, there should be a buffer of at least 30 minutes with the pump running before & after the swg is set to run. (An hour is even better incase the timers happen to lose a little time/get out of sync).
If the swg doesn’t have flow it will throw an alarm & fail to chlorinate your pool & throw off your schedule, also there is risk of chlorine gas build up with no flow if the flow sensor fails.
As far as the ozone goes, I would disregard it, it’s function is not necessary in a properly chlorinated pool, & it probably doesn’t do much anyway.

That sounds like a much easier route lol. I just hate all the floaters that accumulate & love not having bugs floating around so that does take care of that for use times. My question is if it is cleaning up from what accumulated in the night the skimmer is going to have that stuff in the basket. Does it bounce it back out into the pool if kids are all sloshing around in pool or having it running pretty much sucks it right back in? If I set it to forget it would kinda cancel all that out if I have to manually stop it to clean out skimmer then restart it (throws off the schedule right?). If it keeps all the junk it collected at skimmer even if bouncy & then can clean when it turns off say at 9pm cool!

If you install a through the wall skimmer like the Hayward Dynaskim it does a much better job of skimming than those floating hang-on skimmers that Intex sells. And it has a weir door so that anything that goes into the skimmer stays there. Plus it comes with a vacuum plate that you can use to connect a pool vacuum.

Is it an in wall skimmer or a hang over style?
For an in wall skimmer the weir door should prevent debris from returning back into the pool when the pump is off & the suction should keep debris in the basket when the pump is on.
For the hang over style the floating ring should keep debris in it. Some find they need to add a rock to the basket to keep it from floating up & sucking air.
I generally don’t turn my pump off to dump the skimmer basket if i do it quickly.
Does the pump have a knob style timer?
Or a pause button ⏸?

You can also connect both the pump and the SWG to an outdoor timer to turn them both on and off together. You can still set the timer on the SWG for a shorter run time than the timer is set for so the SWG shuts off while the pump continues to run. Each time the SWG comes on, it will run the full run time you have set. Switch the pump to always on and let the timer turn it on and off. This way the SWG can never run while the pump is off.

The only problem with this is that you'll have to replace the GFCI plugs on the pump and SWG with regular 3-prong plugs. If you don't, the Intex GFCI will trip every time the timer turns them on. Just make sure the entire circuit is GFCI protected at the house.

Mine is a hang on rail skimmer. It is my 1st pool (not counting one years ago that was only up for the summer because we moved to Hawaii & sold it) and just learned about trouble free thankfully before I set up. It has been up a week this past Monday. I definitely do not feel confident this summer at least cutting into my pool wall hehe or doing the external timers yet since all new to me. Maybe next year. My Intex pump does not have a timer knob or pause button. Considering getting a Hayward Powerflo VS 300 pump for next summer & upgrading the sand filter to 16” (suggestions for a good sand filter next summer for my size pool too would be great).
