Hey I have a tarp that I float on top of the surface and hold in place with the water tubes on the deck. then I place the saftey mesh on top of that for dog saftey and her enjoyment. but the question is - the water that collects on top of tarp is green.. can I dump chlorine in there a few days before I plan to open the pool is 14x28 feet - probably about 2 feet of water..

The tarp does not seem to waterproof - as i tried to pump off the top portion in a previous years and all it did was reduce the water level - my pump is a small utlity pump that I picked up at the hardware store. When we had the liner replaced last year I had them install a double track , so when I can retire the safety mesh cover, I will get a solid vinyl cover for winter.. Our Golden Retriever thinks the safety cover is her personal trampoline, "Look I can jump and get wet at the same time!!".... When I I would have the pool professionally opened - they would have a much larger faster pump\milk crate contraption dunked into the pool and brush everything towards that.. then the team would drag the tarp out.. and the pool would almost be clear when they left..
