My goodness, I really dislike the CYA test method in the K-2006 kit. I have basically zero confidence that I'm calling the dot "gone" where I should. I mean, if I can just faintly see it through the haze, and another person claims they can't, should I keep adding or not?

I seem to remember someone mentioning a reference liquid, that shows one what they should be looking for, when testing CYA. The kit didn't seem to come with anything like that, but I'd be happy to purchase separately, if it would get my eyes trained to this test.

Thanks, guys! I'm going to order that full standard sampler pack newdude posted, since my eyes (and digital meter) could probably use a reliable reference on a few of these tests. A little training never hurts, on any test.

For CYA we recommend full overhead sun to your back. Fill only to the 10s and take a lightning fast glance and call it yes/no. If you stare you can almost always see it. Either your brain lies or you see the reflection of the tube.

You can pour back and forth as many times as you need to get a couple in a row that agree.

With the sample solution I'd do it in your brightest room at night to see how it looks there too. It's rarely convenient to be home at lunch when it's sunny for most of us. Seldom are we so blessed on a weekend. :ROFLMAO:

Duh... I should have thought of that today! :ROFLMAO: It would have been good for me to do an average of three tests.

And yes... I was staring at it. This is where I think the standard will help me get an idea of how this stuff is supposed to sight in.

Good idea. I actually work from home, so timing is easier for me than most, but it certainly can't hurt to have a backup method.
