Just turned SWG for first time, and need a sanity check.

Hey Everyone,

Just started using SWG for first time, and turned it on at 50% Chlorine output at recommendation from PB, took readings after a week and the pool's chemistry is below:

-Total Hardness 250
-Total Chlorine 5.0
-Free Chlorine 7.5
-PH 8.0
-Alk 150
-Cya 45

I used pool math calculator and added the Muriatic Acid to the pool and reduced my pool SWG down to 20% in an effort to lower the TC and FC?

Any other suggestions?

Additionally how should it take to see results?

How are you testing your pool water chemistry?

TC (total chlorine) cannot be lower than FC (free chlorine). TC is the result from adding FC and CC together.

@mknauss thanks for taking the time....

Ok Ok.. I think this time, I got it....

So I am using a K2006 Taylor Kit

My readings are as follows
Total Hardness 250
FC 5
CC 0
PH 8.4
ALK 240
CYA 32
Gallons 13400
Salt 3300
Temp 72 Degress F.
I run the pool pump 24/7
Using a Jandy Salt Chlorinator set to 20%

The water looks crystal clear, however the high PH and ALK and FC concerns me.

According to the guide I got from PB
I am shooting for:
7.4 on PH
100 on ALK
FC .5 - 1.0
CC 0-.02

I am thinking of using the pool math calculator and adding the prescribed amounts of Muriatic Acids.
and lowering the chlorinator to 10%

FC is fine. Your CYA is low for using a SWCG. See Recommended Levels

Lower the pH to 7.2 with acid. Aerate to increase the pH. Repeat. Test your TA each time as it will come down over time using the acid.
